Spanish Watchdog Investigates ACS, Ferrovial on Cartel Suspicion

Spain’s competition watchdog is investigating whether a group of the country’s largest builders formed a cartel to procure contracts from the government.

“The anti-competitive practices in question would have involved agreements and exchanges of information between” the companies to restrict competition in public tenders, the agency known as CNMC said in an emailed statement Oct. 11. The watchdog named units of ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA, Ferrovial SA and Acciona SA among the companies targeted by the probe.
