Spanish Regulator Opens New Public Hearing for Grid Remuneration

Spain’s antitrust agency has launched a new public consultation for the remuneration framework for power distribution networks.

The new consultation period follows revisions by the agency, called CNMC, to an existing draft. The modifications are based on feedback received while drafting the text, the CNMC said in an emailed statement. This second consultation will run until October 22.

The new rules will establish the methodology used to calculate remuneration for distribution networks between 2026 to 2031. Utilities including Iberdrola SA and Endesa SA, which own distribution grids, have opposed the CNMC’s proposal to increase grid returns to 6.46%, a ...
