Shipping Container Makers Accused of Price-Fixing in New Suit

An importer filed a proposed class action against the world’s largest markers of shipping containers, claiming it bore additional costs as a result of the companies’ alleged conspiracy to restrict output and fix prices.

The complaint, brought by C.A. Spalding Co. Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, follows an indictment in January against defendant China International Marine and five other companies.

“Plaintiff and the Class were injured because they paid more than they would have paid absent Defendants’ unlawful restraint of trade,” Spalding said in the complaint.
