Seaboard Foods to Pay $9.75 Million in Pork Price-Fixing Deal

Seaboard Foods LLC has agreed to pay $9.75 million to settle claims in multidistrict litigation that it and other pork producers conspired to inflate the price of pork in the US.

Combined with earlier settlements made with JBS USA and Smithfield Foods Inc., Seaboard’s payment would bring total settlements to date to $111.6 million.

Consumer plaintiffs filed a class action in June 2018 with claims that the pork companies exchanged public information about prices, capacity, sales volume, and demand through their co-conspirator, data-sharing service Agri Stats Inc.
