‘Scavengers’ Will Snatch Discarded Spirit Routes, Frontier Says

The top executive at Frontier Airlines Group Holdings Inc. said the discount carrier and others are poised to benefit if JetBlue Airways Corp.is allowed to complete the $3.8 billion takeover of Spirit Airline Inc.

There would likely be a scramble by other carriers to replace routes that Spirit quits as part of the merger, Frontier Chief Executive Officer Barry Biffle told a federal judge in Boston, where US regulators sued to block the deal on antitrust grounds.
