Right to Repair Electronics Bill Headed to Oregon Governor (1)

Oregon lawmakers have approved legislation (SB 1596) that would make companies like Apple provide consumers with the parts, tools, and technical information to repair their own devices.

The bill awaits action by Gov. Tina Kotek (D), after passing the state House Monday and the Senate last month. Advocates of so-called “Right to Repair” laws have pushed similar bills in roughly three dozen states over the previous year despite resistance from manufacturers.
