Qualcomm Urges Ending Class Suit After Antitrust Win Against FTC

Qualcomm Inc. is asking a federal appeals court to toss an antitrust class action seeking up to $15 billion in damages in light of the chip maker’s recent victory over the Federal Trade Commission.

“The FTC decision resolves all of plaintiffs’ claims because it precludes plaintiffs from showing, based on their liability theories, that Qualcomm’s conduct harmed competition in the alleged relevant markets,” Qualcomm’s attorney, Robert Van Nest of Keker, Van Nest & Peters LLP, said in a letter filed Tuesday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
