Poultry processor George’s Inc. has agreed to pay $6 million in a settlement with the Department of Justice over charges the poultry producer conspired to fix wages.
The Springdale, Ariz.-based chicken producer is the fourth major meatpacking industry player to settle with the DOJ in the agency’s investigation into a network of competitors that conspired to suppress their workers’ compensation. The company “provided significant and voluntary cooperation to the Justice Department’s investigation,” DOJ said in a statement Wednesday.
George’s also agreed to stop sharing wage information and submit to a court-appointed compliance monitor for the next seven years.
