Pilgrim’s Pride Has Deal in Principle to Exit Wage-Fixing Case

JBS SA subsidiary Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. has tentatively resolved antitrust claims over its alleged role in an industrywide scheme to depress pay for the largely immigrant workforce employed at poultry processing plants, according to federal court filing Wednesday in Baltimore.

The employees leading the case told Judge Stephanie A. Gallagher they’ll seek approval “in the near future” for the class action settlement, which would end antitrust litigation against Pilgrim’s in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. The filing didn’t disclose the agreement’s terms.
