Oil Price-Fixing Cases Against Hess, Pioneer Moved to New Mexico

Nearly a dozen lawsuits accusing oil producers including Hess, Pioneer, and Diamondback Energy of price fixing will be consolidated in New Mexico federal court, a judicial panel ruled Thursday.

The suits, pending in New Mexico and Nevada federal courts, will be transferred to the US District Court of the District of New Mexico, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation said. The suits include similar allegations from both consumer and business plaintiffs, who claimed they were forced to pay higher gas and heating oil prices as a result of the defendants’ collusion.
