Ocasio-Cortez Calls to Break Up Live Nation, Ticketmaster (1)

House Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Ticketmaster a monopoly and said that a merger with Live Nation should never have been approved.

“They need to be reigned in,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter. “Break them up.”

Representative David Cicilline said Ticketmaster’s excessive wait times and fees as seen Tuesday with Taylor Swift tickets “are a symptom of a larger problem.”

The comments come after Swift fans, trying to get tickets to her latest tour, crashed the Ticketmaster website. Thousands reported outages on the tracking site Downdetector.com Tuesday morning.
