Noncompete agreements for doctors can harm patient access and choice while unfairly constraining physicians, NYU Langone Health said in support of the Federal Trade Commission rule banning such contracts.
The medical center endorsed the FTC regulation amid attempts by business and industry groups to prevent the regulation from going into effect.
The American Hospital Association, of which NYU Langone Hospitals is a member, in late July joined the effort to block the rule, arguing it would have adverse effects across the health-care industry.
