Nutella-Maker Ferrero Says Was Focus of EU Antitrust Raids (1)

Ferrero Group, the maker of the chocolate-hazelnut spread Nutella, confirmed it was the target of European Union antitrust raids this week.

The European Commission said on April 13 that it had carried out unannounced inspections at the premises in two different countries of a leading chocolate confectionery company, which it didn’t name, over concerns it may have breached the bloc’s cartel and abuse of dominance rules.

“Ferrero is aware that on-site inspections are currently taking place in its offices by European Commission officials,” the company said on Wednesday, declining to be more specific about the timing of the raids. ...
