The NFL asked the Ninth Circuit to reject an appeal by the city of Oakland over its antitrust challenge to the relocation of the Raiders to Las Vegas, arguing the city hasn’t shown it would still be hosting a franchise if the league allowed more teams to join.
The city’s failure to allege that any team was actually denied entry into the NFL means “its purported injury” can’t be traced to the NFL’s rules requiring existing teams to approve league expansion, the NFL told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Wednesday.
