New Jersey Hospitals Owner Hit With Emergency Care Monopoly Suit

The operator of the Hudson Regional Health network of hospitals in New Jersey was sued by a rival alleging the group monopolized the market for emergency services, largely by forcing a major provider into bankruptcy.

Plaintiff RWJ Barnabas Health Inc. alleges that HRH seized control of the CarePoint group of hospitals to “entrench its monopoly power over emergency services in the City of Bayonne,” according to a complaint filed Nov. 14 in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.
