Negative Oil Price Case Against Online Brokerage Hits Setback

AMP Global Clearing LLC and its affiliates dodged federal litigation brought in Chicago by commodities traders who claim they were unable to unload their futures contracts when oil fell below $0 a barrel for the first time last year because AMP’s platform didn’t recognize trades at negative prices.

Judge Franklin U. Valderrama dismissed the case late Tuesday from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, rejecting allegations that AMP breached its client agreements or violated the Commodities Exchange Act.
