NCAA’s Revised Player-Pay Deal Gets Preliminary Approval (2)

A federal judge granted preliminary approval of the NCAA’s revised $2.8 billion antitrust settlement, kicking off a monthslong process that could culminate in a final deal next year.

Judge Claudia Wilken of the US District Court for the Northern District of California in a Monday order said she found the amended deal to be fair reasonable, and adequate. She set a fairness hearing for April 7, 2025, with objections due Jan. 31, 2025.

Wilken’s ruling is a significant milestone for the NCAA in its plight to close years of litigation accusing the organization of restricting compensation for student-athletes. Under the ...
