A court should keep blocking the National Collegiate Athletic Association from enforcing its transfer rule for Division I athletes, allowing affected students to compete for the rest of academic year, both parties in a lawsuit agreed.
A two-week temporary restraining order should be converted into a preliminary injunction, putting the transfer rule on hold until the court decides the merits of the case, the NCAA and seven states suing over the rule said in a joint motion filed Friday with the US District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.
