The National Hot Rod Association dodged most of a longtime drag racer’s lawsuit claiming it interfered with his two-seat dragster business, but it must face two tort claims, and the racer can replead his antitrust allegations, an Indiana federal judge ruled.
Larry Dixon’s suit accused the NHRA of convincing cosponsors and affiliated racetracks not to do business with him or his company, which was developing a racecar with a passenger seat that a fan could ride in. The NHRA cited safety concerns, but it had allegedly expressed interest, and it later approved three other designs.
