NASCAR Hits Back at Michael Jordan Racing Team in Antitrust Case

NASCAR filed counterclaims against two racing teams, including one owned by NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan, accusing them of illegally conspiring against the organization to gain preferred terms for contracts.

The counterclaims, filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, escalates a dispute brought last year by Jordan’s team, 23XI, and FrontRow Motorsports Inc. that alleges NASCAR holds a monopoly over premier stock car racing in the US and claims its “charter agreements” are unlawful. Chartered teams are guaranteed racing spots and earn money for performance.
