MultiPlan Fails to Escape Reimbursement Collusion Litigation (1)

Data analytics firm MultiPlan Inc. and large insurance companies will face multidistrict litigation claiming they conspired to lower reimbursement rates paid to health-care providers via an algorithm.

Judge Matthew F. Kennelly of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Tuesday denied MultiPlan’s motion to dismiss the class and direct action plaintiffs’ federal and state antitrust claims, concluding the plaintiffs provided evidence of an alleged conspiracy. The insurer defendants include Aetna Inc. and Cigna Corp.
