MLB Convinces Judge to Propose Tossing Minor League Player Suit

Major League Baseball has convinced a federal magistrate judge to recommend tossing a lawsuit brought by minor league players alleging that the professional sports organization violated federal antitrust and labor laws.

Some of the plaintiffs’ claims were barred by a three-year statute of limitations, while others should be dismissed because federal antitrust laws generally don’t apply to the business of baseball, Magistrate Judge Bruce J. McGiverin of the US District Court for the District of Puerto Rico wrote in a Wednesday report.
