Mastercard Accused of Software-Test Monopoly, ‘Sham’ Litigation

Mastercard Inc. and a subsidiary were sued in federal court with claims they monopolized the market for software that helps businesses test new products and initiatives before rolling them out nationwide.

Plaintiff MarketDial Inc. alleges that Applied Predictive Technologies Inc. and its owner, Mastercard, hamstrung MarketDial’s ability to compete by bundling APT’s software with the card company’s credit card services, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Utah.
