Mallinckrodt Hit With Pain-Pill Monopoly Claim by Drugmaker (1)

Mallinckrodt Plc was sued in federal court Wednesday by a generic-drug maker that alleges the Irish pharmaceutical company breached sales contracts and monopolizes the market for pain pills containing oxycodone.

Plaintiff KVK Tech Inc. claims that Mallinckrodt excluded it from competition by cutting off supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients used in medications for pain treatment, according to a complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. KVK says Mallinckrodt stopped selling medications it was contractually obligated to.
