Malaysia plans to restrict social media access for those under 16 as early as June, aligning with a global push by governments to protect minors online.

The nation’s communications regulator had discussions on the proposed restrictions with social media platforms in Singapore last week, news agency Bernama reported, citing Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission will present its review to the minister in the coming week, he was cited as saying.
