Louisiana Joins HCA’s Hospital Deal Filing Lawsuit Against FTC

The state of Louisiana won court approval to join lawsuits filed by HCA Healthcare and Louisiana Children’s Medical Center against the Federal Trade Commission seeking to complete their hospital acquisition.

Louisiana Children’s Medical Center struck a deal last year to buy three hospitals from HCA for $150 million. The children’s hospital and HCA sued the FTC last month in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, seeking a declaration that their deal doesn’t need to be reported to federal antitrust regulators for review.
