Lamb Weston, Cavendish Sued in Potato Cartel Price-Fixing Case

Lamb Weston Holdings Inc. and Cavendish Farms Inc. are among a group of food companies hit with a proposed class action alleging they colluded to fix and raise the price of frozen potatoes with help from a data aggregation service.

Consumer plaintiff Alexander Govea alleged the companies were part of a potato cartel whose unlawful agreement led to higher prices for frozen french fries, hash browns, tater tots, and other frozen potato products, according to a suit filed Sunday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
