Kraft, Others Awarded $17.8 Million in Egg Price-Fixing Case (1)

A federal jury on Friday awarded $17.8 million to General Mills Inc., a Kraft Heinz Co. unit, Kellogg Co., and Nestle SA as compensation for overpaying for the price of eggs due to a producers’ conspiracy.

The four food companies had asked a US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois jury to order the egg producers, Cal-Maine Foods Inc. and Rose Acre Farms Inc., and two trade groups, United Egg Producers Inc. and United States Egg Marketers Inc., to pay $25.4 million in damages. The jury awarded about 70% of that request.
