Journalism Is Under Threat by Ad Giants, Official Says (Correct)

The news business is “under threat” largely due to consolidation in the ad market, the Department of Justice’s top antitrust official said in his latest comments focused on antitrust issues involving online content creators.

Digital advertising dollars “now go to middlemen rather than to the journalists and news organizations that actually do the hard work,” Jonathan Kanter said Thursday. “In turn, news organizations now depend on these platforms. Competition is a key piece of the puzzle toward a solution.”
