J&J, Alcon Paying $75 Million to End Contact Lens Antitrust Case

A Johnson & Johnson unit and Alcon Vision LLC reached a deal to pay a combined $75 million—just days before a scheduled trial—to end antitrust litigation over an alleged price-fixing scheme by top contact lens makers and their primary distributor, according to a federal court filing in Jacksonville, Fla.

The agreements, docketed Wednesday, call for payments of $55 million by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc. and $20 million by Alcon, the last two companies—out of five—facing class action claims in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
