Ireland May Help Fiat Win Spat With EU Over $34 Million Tax Bill

Stellantis NV’s Fiat could ultimately topple a 30 million-euro ($34 million) tax bill imposed by European Union antitrust regulators thanks to a separate appeal by Ireland.

An adviser to the bloc’s top court said that judges should overturn the European Commission decision finding that Luxembourg gave the car firm unfair tax breaks.

Fiat is challenging a 2015 European Commission order to pay back tax breaks granted by Luxembourg. Ireland, which last year successfully overturned a record 13 billion-euro tax bill for Apple Inc., lent its support from the start.
