High Court Asks for Government’s View of Comcast Antitrust Case

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday asked the federal government to weigh in on Comcast Corp.'s bid to shut down a lawsuit claiming it violated antitrust laws by refusing to do business with Viamedia Inc., a rival in the TV ad placement market.

The justices sought the views of the U.S. solicitor general about a February ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit reviving Viamedia’s allegations under the “duty to deal” doctrine, which imposes liability for ending a profitable commercial relationship solely to harm a rival.
