Hermes Wins Unconditional French Antitrust Approval to Buy J3L

French Competition Authority says it found no competition concerns after reviewing a plan by Hermes to acquire J3L, which manufactures high-end metal parts for handbags, briefcases, wallets and shoes.

  • New entity will have market share of less than 25% in upstream market, Autorité de la concurrence says in Monday statement
  • Several other manufacturers of metal parts will remain credible alternatives to J3L
