Harley-Davidson Defeats Unofficial Parts Warranty Litigation

Harley-Davidson Motor Co. Group LLC’s warranty agreement with new motorcycle owners didn’t contain an unlawful tie to the use of company-approved parts and repair services, a federal judge said.

The company “is simply noting” in the warranty that it wouldn’t be responsible for damage from unauthorized parts, so the agreement doesn’t tie the warranty to the use of Harley-Davidson parts, Judge William C. Griesbach of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin said Wednesday. He dismissed consolidated litigation from 15 motorcycle owners.
