Goodyear, Other Tire Firms Hit With US Price-Fixing Cartel Case

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Michelin North America Inc., and other major tiremakers are confronting a new price-fixing suit in the US after the European Union launched a probe into the companies’ business practices.

California resident Rena Sampayan, who purchased Goodyear tires, on Wednesday brought a proposed class action against the companies, accusing them of coordinated price increases for replacement tires for passenger cars, vans, trucks, and buses sold in the US in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act, which prohibits agreements that restrain trade.
