Goodyear, Michelin Freed for Good From Price-Fixing Litigation

A federal judge denied plaintiffs’ bid to update their price-fixing complaints against major tire companies including Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Michelin North America Inc., ruling that their allegations still had pleading deficiencies.

The Tuesday ruling dismisses with prejudice cases that the manufacturers conspired to fix the price of replacement tires for cars, trucks, vans, and buses.

Judge Sara Lioi of the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio said the plaintiffs’ changes “would be entirely futile” and not survive an inevitable motion to dismiss.

“The Court finds itself in a déjà vu of sorts,” Lioi said. ...
