Goldman, HSBC to Pay $20 Million in Metals Price-Fixing Lawsuit

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and HSBC Holdings Plc units are among four companies that will pay a combined $20 million to settle claims they fixed prices in the platinum and palladium markets after a decade of litigation.

Judge Gregory H. Woods of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York gave preliminary approval of the deal Aug. 24, marking a milestone in the suit dating back to 2014. The case is among a series of suits targeting financial institutions over claims including bid-rigging and bond market manipulation.
