Goldman CFO Says Trump FTC Pick Could Spur More M&A Activity (1)

President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the US Federal Trade Commission could eliminate a key obstacle in the path of bankers searching for deals, according to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Chief Financial Officer Denis Coleman.

Trump on Tuesday picked Andrew Ferguson, a Republican member of the FTC, to serve as the agency’s chair, a role critical to dealmakers and currently held by Lina Khan. The FTC has the power to review mergers and act against companies to prevent monopolistic practices.
