Glumetza Antitrust Deal Worth $454 Million Gets Nod, But Fees Cut

Class action litigation over the diabetes drug Glumetza and its generic equivalents came to an end when a federal judge in San Francisco approved antitrust settlements worth $454 million with Bausch Health Cos., Lupin Ltd., and Assertio Therapeutics Inc.

Judge William Alsup signed off late Thursday on the trio of agreements between the pharmaceutical companies and bulk buyers of Glumetza, such as drug distributors and other “direct purchasers.” He also awarded class counsel about $50 million in legal fees, less than half of what they had sought.
