New FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson is closing the agency’s Office of Workplace Inclusivity and Opportunity and placing all its employees on administrative leave, the agency said Wednesday.
The move from Ferguson, who became the head of the Federal Trade Commission on Jan. 20 following President Donald Trump’s inauguration, is part of a White House effort to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion programs from the federal government.
“DEI is a scourge on our institutions,” Ferguson said in a statement, echoing the Trump executive order that labeled DEI discriminatory and illegal.
