DeVry Students Will See $71.7 Million in Loan Forgiveness

The U.S. Department of Education will forgive $71.7 million in federal student loans for students allegedly deceived by DeVry University, according to Wednesday’s news release.

In 2016, the Federal Trade Commission alleged that DeVry had been falsely marketing its graduate statistics, including advertising that 90 percent of its graduates seeking employment got jobs in their field within six months of graduation. DeVry has paid $49.4 million to the FTC for partial refunds to students and $50.6 million in debt relief owed to the university per an FTC order.
