FTC Appoints Pharma Expert Marta Wosińska to Top Economist Spot

The FTC has appointed Duke University professor Marta Wosińska to oversee the agency’s Bureau of Economics.

Acting Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Rebecca Slaughter announced on Tuesday that Wosińska, the deputy director of Duke’s Margolis Center for Health Policy, would take over as the bureau’s director later this month.

The commission, now evenly split between Democrats and Republicans, voted unanimously to approve Wosińska’s appointment, signaling Slaughter’s focus on competition issues in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
