FTC Requests $160 Million Boost for Competition, Consumer Work

President Joe Biden’s annual budget proposal calls for a $160 million boost in fiscal year 2024 funding for the Federal Trade Commission, seeking to support the agency’s ambitious agenda of antitrust and consumer protection enforcement.

The proposed $590 million budget would help the agency hire more than 300 additional staffers, the FTC said in its budget request Monday. Biden requested an increase of $139 million last year, but the agency received a $53 million boost for a total 2023 budget of $430 million.
