Mixed-martial arts promoter Bellator Sport Worldwide LLC has been sued by a former middleweight champion who says the combat organization illegally maintains dominance in the market for MMA fighter services.
Plaintiff Gegard Mousasi alleges Bellator damaged his career as a fighter by not promoting him for nearly a year and abusing its “monopsony” power by locking fighters into contracts that never let them see free agency, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.
