Fiat Wins Top Court Fight With EU’s Vestager Over Tax Bill (1)

Stellantis NV’s Fiat won its challenge at the European Union’s top court to topple a €30 million ($30 million) tax bill imposed by the bloc’s antitrust regulators.

The EU Court of Justice annulled the European Commission’s decision in a binding judgment on Tuesday, saying that its analysis was “erroneous.”

The carmaker contested a 2015 European Commission order to pay back tax breaks granted by Luxembourg -- part of EU competition chief Margrethe Vestager’s attempted crackdown on allegedly unfair tax deals doled out by member states to encourage big firms to set up units in their territories.
