Facebook Defends Decision to Ban Laura Loomer as Dangerous

Facebook Inc. asked a Miami federal judge to throw out a lawsuit by conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, saying her ban under its “dangerous individuals and organizations” policy wasn’t defamatory because “reasonable minds can disagree” about whether she’s dangerous.

“While Ms. Loomer may not believe she is ‘dangerous’ or has ‘promoted hate,’ others disagree—as demonstrated by her admission that online platforms have widely banned her,” the tech giant says.

Loomer, who was banned from Facebook after calling Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) “anti-Jewish,” is a self-described “guerrilla-style journalist” and “most banned woman in the world.” She’s currently running for Congress in Florida. ...
