EU Raids Consultancy Firm as Part of Tire Antitrust Probe

European Union antitrust watchdogs raided the premises of an unidentified consultancy firm suspected of involvement in a cartel across the tire industry.

  • The European Commission “is concerned that the consultancy firm may have facilitated or instigated the suspected price coordination among tire manufacturers, which allegedly also used public communications channels to collude,” it said in an emailed statement
  • The raids took place in two EU states, the EU’s antitrust arm said
  • Tire firms across Europe were raided in January as regulators hunted for evidence of a cartel
