Epic Systems Corp. was sued Monday in federal court for illegally monopolizing the market for electronic health record systems and restricting disabled individuals’ access to medical records.
The American Association of Disability Justice, along with two individual plaintiffs, claim that Epic’s monopoly power allows it to control medical records access through Epic-controlled portals, making it difficult for disabled people to retrieve records and gain Social Security disability benefits, according to a proposed class action filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
