Energizer, Walmart Face Price-Inflation Claims in Antitrust Suit

Energizer Holdings Inc. and Walmart Inc. are facing a lawsuit alleging that the companies conspired to inflate retail prices for battery products in violation of federal and state antitrust laws.

The alleged scheme, which began as early as 2018, violates the Sherman Act and California’s Cartwright Act,according to a Friday complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The plaintiffs claimed the scheme forced them and other direct purchasers to pay artificially higher retail prices for batteries.
