Elanco Animal Health Faces Flea-and-Tick Treatment Monopoly Suit

Elanco Animal Health Inc. is facing a proposed class action alleging the animal products company monopolizes the flea-and tick-prevention products market and causes consumers to pay inflated prices.

Plaintiff Tracy Spradlin filed the suit Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, accusing Elanco of pressuring such pet specialty retailers as Petsmart LLC and Chewy.com to only sell its Advantix products at the exclusion of generic topicals made by competitors, including veterinary drug company Tevra Brands LLC. The flea-and-tick treatments include an active ingredient called imidacloprid for cats and dogs.
